"I would be shocked to see any overt discrimination against him."

To the contrary. Overwhelming pressure will be put on the Rams not to cut him even he turns out to be the total stiff he appeared to be at the scouting combine. I think that was a big part of Dungy's concern - it will be darn near impossible to cut him in his first three years or so.

You nailed it. This "open declaration" of his homosexuality is an insurance policy not to be cut from the team. Sam was a seventh round draft choice despite being all-SEC.

The Oprah supported reality show on Sam was canceled. Sam was trying to cash in on his new found fame.

They like to compare Sam to Jackie Robinson. Robinson was a Hall of Famer with tremendous talent. Sam isn't in the same league, no pun intended. Any criticism of Sam will be viewed as homophobic.

Is there a big “gay” community in St. Louis to come out and buy tickets???

It would be a public relations headache for them to cut him.

The untold story here is that lots of guys get drafted but get cut in training camp. Just getting drafted doesn’t mean a player will for sure make the team. If that happens to Sam, the liberals will have their hissy fit and generate tons of bad publicity for the Rams and the NFL.

Which team is the one team in the NFL that wants to move?

That’s why the Rams drafted Sam.
