This is the second such article in the past day. A very realistic portrayal. Unless the USGA starts holding the US Open at Torrey Pines every year, I don't see him getting his 5 majors.

He won 5 tournaments last year, it ain’t over. The era of Tiger’s dominance is over, but if he manages to recover effectively from his back surgery he’ll still be competing and relevant for another 4 or 5 years. Yeah he won’t beat Jack’s record, but I’m betting he still has 1 major in him.

Nicklaus won his last major when he was 46. Woods is no Nicklaus, but there is always a chance to win.

Some golf analyst, about 25 years ago, predicted that Tiger would burn out early.

Nicklaus didn’t roid himself up like Tiger did.

Perhaps he had PTSD caused by Elin beating upside the head and holding golf clubs cause flashbacks.

If you have evidence of Woods on steroids, please post such evidence.

But, steroids does not help golfing.

Yeah but he always wins on the same golf courses. Bay Hill, Memorial, Torrey Pines, etc. If he’s healthy, I do give him a good chance at Valhalla - another pathetic site for a major thanks to the PGA and their money grubbing. I digress...

Chamblee is known Tiger hater and never misses chance to proclaim his golf career is over. Will Tiger ever get another major is anyone’s guess and the odds are not in his favor, but to declare his career is at an end is a bit much.

About 5 years ago some writer asked Jack if he thought Tiger would break his record and Jack’s reply was something like — I don’t know, life has a funny way of getting in the way. This was before his womanizing became public, and now the nagging injuries.

I think Jack was right.

I figure that Tiger's chances of winning Majors will end at age 45.

So, he's got a little over 6 years to go.

I’ll be happy if the media just reports on the actual tounament. I am not a Tigger fan, but he was a great golfer. I just got so sick of headlines like.....Leader at -10, Tigger 7 shots back. Stuff like that had to piss off the othe golfers.

Far from over. Why would anyone expect Woods to do well in the British Open coming off back surgery and only one competitive golf tournament prior to the Open? He made the cut at the Open, which is amazing in and of itself.

Woods will win more majors. Whether he breaks Jack's record is another matter, but it is far too early to write Tiger off. He is a proven winner. Hell, he won more tournaments last year than anyone else.

The fact is though, golf ratings have tanked since Tiger has been out.

Certainly, he faces stronger competition now. But I wouldn't write Tiger off so soon. He is very talented and a very hard worker at his game, and has wonderful recovery skills.

The biggest obstacle to his future success is injury. He might do well to smooth his swing-speed down some. His all-out swing has both injury potential and caused much of his driving inaccuracy.

Knee surgery was it? Or cheating on his (then?) wife?

Oh, I know where Chamblee is coming from. This is actually mild stuff from him on Tiger. It really is a complicated, sort of fascinating argument w/ Tiger and the majors.

The variables are so different now than they were then (Jack), yet who’s to say one era and the competition at the top is better than another?

It’s very subjective. From an athletic standpoint, obviously today’s players are far superior than yesterday’s. From a grind it out, want it more standpoint - I don’t know.
