No, you are putting words in my mouth.
What I actually said, for anyone who cares to read the thread, is that discussing the facts of Eric Garner's past bad actions is fair play - just as discussing the past bad actions of the NYPD is also fair play.
Not really relevant to the case at hand, but absolutely fair play.
So, no double standard: the dirty laundry of all parties should be equally aired.
>> “Seems like in a lot of these cop-induced deaths, the suspect is usually resisting arrest.” <<
.
You mean resisting being choked to death?
.
>> “He was under arrest, and he would not comply.” <<
.
Just more of your statist agitprop.
We saw the video, nuff said.
.
The NYPD has a clear pattern and history of serious crime and corruption. Way more serious and more frequent than the victim ever committed. No?
Yet ya say the past background of Mr. Garner matters, but NYPD’s long history of crime and corruption does not matter.
Then ya say there is no double standard here?
You can discredit the victim using his past which has zip to do with this event, that’s ok, but don’t try this with those from the same agency which caused his death and the death of many others?
You’re all over the road wideawake..
But wideawake said there are no double standards regarding government. No hidden agendas...Right?
We are a nation of laws
Then how in tarnation do ya explain the above widewake?
BTW, I’m growing real tired of your endless BS dipped comments regarding your pro-biggov obey them or die position.
Panteleo has become quite a liability to the city of New York. This lawsuit for killing Garner is gonna be a doozy, I predict.
What's Officer Panteleos next job going to be, I wonder? Mall security?
You saw a heavily edited video.
I count five definite clumsy edits, and potentially three more, in just 2:43 of video.
It's a pretty loose definition of "statism" if acknowledging that the police have the authority to make arrests is "statist."
Defendants sue the police all the time.
It's a cottage industry.
If the case against him was strong, they wouldn't have settled for a measly $30K - that figure tells me that the plaintiff was pretty certain he couldn't win in a trial.
$30K and a dismissal is way cheaper than getting a exoneration at trial. The settlement saved the city money.
Panteleo has become quite a liability to the city of New York. This lawsuit for killing Garner is gonna be a doozy, I predict.
Anyone can make predictions.
It's quite obvious he did not "kill" Garner, and it's pretty hard to win a pricey wrongful death suit when there is no homicide indictment.
- I'll tell you what else is a cottage industry. Police LYING UNDER OATH.
They do it all the time. Happened to my best friend, a church going guy who at age 64 never had anything on his record, not so much a speeding ticket. He's lost all respect for law enforcement in general. After the false accusations of hit and run were ( he bumped a tire on a parked car on a icy street) made against him, two thousand dollars in attorneys fees later, and a day in court later, he learned the hard way, that police only cover their own asses, at ALL cost, even to throwing innocent people under the bus.

Back to Panteleo.
The case was dropped, because Panteleo lied in an affidavit against two suspects in possession of some drugs.
The plaintiffs sued him and the city for lying, and they won when they proved their case, that Panteleo lied.
If Officer Panteleo had told the truth, they would like have lost the lawsuit.
in this pending case, the plaintiff is again charging that Panteleo lied, and "misrepresented facts"
The DA has already dropped charges against the plaintiff in the second case, , because Panteleo lied in an affidavit... Again.
So Panteleo is a liar and probably a sociopath, among other things.

If they "proved their case", then why did they settle for amount far, far below what their case would have been worth if it had actually been proven?
You prove your case in court, not by taking a check.
I read about it. Now he's going to have 3 charges resulting in lawsuits on his record all for criminal abuse. Funny how wideawake neglected to bring that up while attempting to discredit the dead victim.
From 3 separate defendants...2 of which the city already dropped the charges against..
Funny it turns out the cop Panteleo seems to be more dangerous than the man they killed.
Another cop abusing individuals under color of authority...Treating them like some foreign enemy.
Did wideawake make all the expected excuses for the cops background while attempting to discredit the dead victim?
I see, so you are making excuses for the cops background while attempting to use the victims background to discredit him.....All in the hopes of making this violent deadly incident appear legitimate and honorable.
How low can you go wideawake?
Hey wideawake, why was this lying cop not fired?
Ya think maybe his corrupt police union backed him?
Why the double standard wideawake?
But if they could prove that he lied, it would be worth much, much more than $30,000 to them.
There is no proof that he lied about anything in that affidavit.
So, when it comes to double standards, dragnet2, you beleive that the police are guilty until proven innocent.
Let me guess wideawake, everyone is lying except the cop right? This will be his 3rd charge of abusing people...
Are they all lying?
But wideawake said there are no double standards regarding government. No hidden agendas...Right?
We are a nation of laws
Then how in tarnation do ya explain the above widewake?
How come you evade so many questions?
This government display was about as disgusting as it gets.
Yes, yes, I know they allege he was selling tobacco cigarettes. Forget the rapes, the murders, the child abductions....let's go kill a poor guy who is alleged to be selling a legal substance.....because he might not be paying taxes to the city or state for that.
Disgusting.
>> “You prove your case in court, not by taking a check.” <<
.
That is if you have sufficient wealth to employ a good enough lawyer to prevail in our heavily pro-thug cop legal system.
