Our Jack Russel Bobo did the same thing a few years ago. A floor plug shorted out in the den, under the sofa. It was shooting sparks and set the underside of the sofa on fire. Bobo ran back and forth from the den to the bedroom, where Mr D was in bed reading. He finally got up to see what he was barking about. Just in time too, the sofa was already on fire.
