I was for Newt, because I wanted to stop Romney. After the SC primary, we were on our way.

But apparently he made some “stupid” speech about America needing to preserve our lead in space before the Florida primary, and that was just too much for us.

We have compromised too much. If we stand firm behind someone who is a true conservative we will win.

Finding one is the problem. If you insist upon NO warts, you'll never have an acceptable candidate.

The last GOP presidential candidate didn't even match his own party platform.

There's a big difference between insisting on someone perfect (which no-one was), and not wanting a pro-abortion, anti-gun, pro-amnesty, pro-socialized medicine, big-government liberal.

I’m more interested in getting a conservative platform than finding a candidate. You would think we could find a decent conservative to run, but they are few and far between.

I think my southern neighbors need to look at other options. Anyone who thinks voting is going to fix the country isn’t aware of how bad things are.

Was that Romney’s problem, warts?

Romney wouldn’t have governed as a liberal. He would have governed as a moderate conservative, and he would have been far less damaging than Obama. That’s why Sarah Palin endorsed him.

If we stand firm behind someone who is a true conservative we will win.

If you are truly blind to what the electorate wants, you'll never elect anyone. A true conservative won't ever win the White House as this candidate won't pull any more than the Red States.

The most electable candidate is going to need some crossover appeal for the mushy moderates so you'll win states like Ohio and Florida. Winning Mississippi and Wyoming just won't cut it anymore.

He certainly did govern as a liberal when he was Governor of MA.

Doesn't matter. He was unelectable. As proven by the fact he wasn't elected.

Liberal republican presidential candidates (pro-abortion, anti-gun, pro-amnesty, pro-socialized medicine, big government) can't get elected because the conservative base won't vote for them.

At this early date what I do know for certain is that I will under no circumstances vote for Jeb, Christy or Mitt.

Yes, the deep blue state of Massachussetts. It’s a bogus extrapolation.

It's the only governance he's done. It's not like he has a packed resume.

Besides, as I said, he was unelectable.

By the way, in the summer of 2012 Sarah Palin said this:

"I have said from Day One and Sean … it has been anybody but Obama. We have a presumptive nominee now in the GOP process after a good competitive and very spirited competition to find that presumptive nominee and, yes, if that vote were to be taken today, obviously I would vote for President — for Gov. Romney over President Barack Obama in a heartbeat,” she said. “I wouldn’t blink because I go back to what I said at the beginning — anybody but Obama."

You have said before that anyone who votes for a "liberal" Republican is a liberal. So, is Sarah Palin a liberal?

We didn’t know Romney would lose until after the election. What we knew was that he would govern far more conservatively than Obama and be far less damaging to the country. That’s why many principled conservatives like Palin voted for Romney.

I don't swoon at Sarah Palin's word.

Or anybody else's. I prefer to think for myself.

I'm glad I didn't vote for the pro-abortion, pro-amnesty, pro-gay marriage, pro-socialized medicine, pro- gun control, big government republican liberal.

It's bad enough that the republican leadership in the legislature governs like liberals.

If the republicans try running another like him, that candidate will lose, too. That candidate will also be unelectable.

I'll be glad when the liberal republican party is politically destroyed. The liberals need to go to the democrat party, where they belong.

That's the party of abortion and gay marriage.

Romney and McCain are both mushy and moderate (actually liberal) and they didn't win. I think the rnc would rather a democrat win than a conservative. They, and other rinos don't care about this country, only about power and money. If they cared they would have really fought obama. Cruz put his name on the line and was attacked for standing up for the people when he called for obamacare to not be funded. Boehner and McConnell attacked conservatives because they want to fight obama, while they want to file a lawsuit that will be done after Obama is out of office. What a joke.

If the gop-e helps another rino cheat it won't matter. People like me will give up completely on the Republican Party. Many have already changed their political affiliation. Cochran has shown us just how the rnc is just as dirty as democrats. We are looking at the constitution party. If we don't get a true conservative the Republican Party is finished, if it isn't already. I will not vote for a mushy moderate=liberal in republican clothes. I'm so sick of these phony politicians.
