When my wife put up a hummingbird feeder a few years ago, I laughed at her efforts. I had never seen an h-bird in the wild in my life of over sixty years. Well, the little birds came and dined. I couldn’t believe it. The most I’ve seen at one time is three, and they usually fight to get control. But it is fun watching them.

I had never seen an h-bird in the wild in my life of over sixty years.

Took the family on a camping trip to Black Canyon Campground on the Santa Fe National Forest (just a few miles NE of Santa Fe, NM).

We took our dart-board with us (one of those plastic-tip dart boards with the little holes for the plastic-tip darts, instead of cork. The little hummingbirds were constantly probing the holes of the red areas. They also probed the red on the Coleman labels of just about everything in camp (propane cannisters, camp stove, coffee maker). It was quite enjoyable watching them and getting buzzed by them while sitting in camp.
