Yes you did piss me off.

I was upset when I saw the headline. I clicked on the thread to voice my sadness over a death of someone who meant something in my life.

Your rant (sitting right up top #3) was unnecessary.

You threw out an opinion like only you could judge music to be good or bad, with no understanding of others and their tastes.
You keep mentioning melody. Who are you to say a Ramones song has no melody?

I play the flute. Mostly classical, some jazz. You are not the only FReeper with some musical experience.

You really need to get over yourself.

The Exploited are a British punk band, I like their raw energy.

Dead Kennedys have always been a favourite. Somebody stole my Dead Kennedys t-shirt back when I was on tour with the drum corps back in the mid-80s.

"Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio?"

One of my all-time favorite songs.

“Once we figured out the Zen of it, the world looked different. Bands like the Eagles and the Who sounded weak, Pink Floyd sounded mannered, Zeppelin almost flatulent. The Ramones seemed to understand all of that, even as they chipped chinks in the armor that would later allow for the blow that, while it did not kill the beast, made its mortality plain.” – Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones on the power of the Ramones

RIP, Tommy. Loved the Ramones, a great live band. BTW, my musical tastes run the gamut, from classical to reggae and jazz.

and Sid Vicious has nothing on you when it comes to angst.
**********************
Sid was a poser ,, he was into fashion and punk was the fashion , becoming a junkie (like Johnny Thunders) was the fashion ... Malcolm McLaren put him in the band because he had the look ... you can see Youtube videos of him onstage where other band members unplug his bass ...

Love the Ramones. Missed a chance to see them in concert at the Aragon "brawlroom" in Chicago in 1988, but had to work. One of my biggest regrets was not seeing them in concert.

Also, Johnny was one of the biggest conservatives in music, the classic picture of him wearing a kill a commie for mommie shirt is legend.

Unfortunately you don’t know what the hell you are talking about.

The Ramones started a revolution. The first and most authentic punk rock band, 1000 bands followed their example!

Loud, fast and annoying, yeah, most of the time. But listen to “Wanna be Your Boyfriend”, for instance.

Just gotta say RIP Tommy. Thanks for the music and entertainment. And many thanks for helping me annoy classmates and neighbors. Three chords loud and fast. the side of the record is done before the cops show up on a noise complaint!

Not sure where you hang out, navy dude, but most bars that play rock and roll have Ramones on the Juke.

When they were inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame Springsteen, Dave Grohl, and I believe Elvis Costello played a short medley of their songs.

Most likely to find on a juke box. Blitzkrieg Bop. Now I Wanna be Sedated. Sheena is a Punk Rocker, Rock and Roll High School.

According to the wiki entry...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramones

Joey Ramone died in 2001 at the age of 50.

Johnny Ramone died in 2004 at the age of 56.

Dee Dee Ramone died in 2002 at the age of 51.

And of course, Tommy this year in 2011 at the age of 62.

Average age at death was 54 3/4 years.

They lived fast and died young.

Several of them were junkies. Bile duct failure is related to shooting junk.
