Police kill charging cow who sent officer airborne

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) -- Police in Mount Vernon, Washington, killed an agitated Angus cow that rampaged through town, tossing a police officer into the air and tap-dancing on a patrol car.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports (http://is.gd/dm29HB) that police spokeswoman Shannon Haigh says the cow apparently escaped from a farm outside the city limits. It was first reported in a Wal-Mart parking lot last Friday.

When I was copping in the 1970’s (back when we copped), I was dispatched over the Radio “ P-9. Go to Dieter’s and shoot the bull.” I had MANY friends who worked there, a slaughter house, and I thought “Why did she put that out over the radio? People are gonna wonder what the hell do I do all day.” I pulled into the parking lot and was immediately attacked by a huge bull that escaped from the chute into the slaughter pens. I jumped out, unloaded my .357 into it’s head and realized there were guys standing in the beds of their trucks (so this wasn’t good for safety.) I took the 12 Guage off the cage and emptied three rounds into the bull (two 00 bucks and a rifled slug) all it did was stumble and charge my cruiser. I got in the trunk and retrieved the .223 and finally shot it in the eye. End of story. Never lived that episode down. Still don’t know who wanted to BS with me.

No, I am not sure. I was just going by the formally accepted terminology that was used in the story. Hell for all I know it was not only a transgendered cow, but may have been a trans-species Jersey bull.
