no if you want dsl for internet but no dial phone service...you can get what is called a "dry line" for dsl.. This is a twisted pair that has dsl service on it but no POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) on it
When I say land line, I mean copper wire of some sort coming into a company demarc on the side of my house for any reason.
I was differentiating between the two, because there is a difference.
And then there is what people generally call a 'land-line'.
