A soldier deployed in Afghanistan may be getting his dog back because strangers rallied to help him after his ex-girlfriend sold the pooch while he was overseas.
The family that bought the pooch is also a military family, but were reluctant to surrender the dog because their children had become so attached to it.
Robert Gabbert, a soldier based in Fort Carson, Colo., left his 3-year-old Shiba Inu named Baxter with his former girlfriend when he was deployed to Afghanistan in March. bitch.
The "ex" is obviously human debris, but the family that tried to keep the dog isn't much better. I don't care how "bonded" the kids managed to get in 10 days. It's a wasted opportunity where the family could have taught the kids to do the right thing despite their 'feelings'.

Exactly. What about telling the kids they have a big responsibility, to take good care of a soldier’s dog until hopefully he makes it back home?
Great idea.
He thought an ex-girlfriend would be a good custodian for his dog?
Better off without the girl.
I was wondering if she was his girlfriend when he left and she broke up with him while he was away.
And of course from a legal point of view they didn't have a leg to stand on anyhow. A thief can never pass title - if you buy stolen property you have to give it back to the true owner and you don't get one thin dime. Your only recourse is against the thief.
I think I read somewhere that the soldier or someone on his behalf had to PAY the family to get the dog back. Which is just more despicable conduct on the part of the family.
Maybe he should sell that ring that her beloved grandmother gave her when she was a girl.
I think that’s WHY she’s an “ex”. Read an interview w/ the soldier, can’t remember where - there were links all over Facebook a couple of days ago.
That makes more sense.
