The word ‘puto’ does not translate as ‘homosexual’. It translates as ‘male *hore’.

The Spanish word for ‘male homosexual’ is ‘maricón’. Maybe is it is a Mexican thing but I have never heard a Mexican use the word ‘puto’ to mean ‘homosexual’.

There was a program on HBO Sports last night about all of the European teams shouting racial epithets against other teams. Those fans even throw bananas at the opposing players.

Miguel de Cervantes uses the word “puto” to mean fag/homosexual in Don Quixote.

Like much slang, its meaning varies by usage and intention.

It can be a noun, a verb or an adverb.

A “putazo” in Mexico means a very strong hit, as with a fist.

In Cuba “puto” can mean a womanizer.

In the Philippines(under almost 400 years of Spanish Colonial rule) “puto” means rice muffins.

It may not translate to “queer” But it is what it is. They’re calling the goalie a queer. gotta love it. It’s the same treatment basketball teams get at Cameron indoor Arena
