A win would be huge. Hopefully Ronaldo doesn’t play well tonight.

Is there a live stream of the game available ?

We disconnected from cable years ago.

U.S. faces 'massive game' against Portugal in World Cup
Both the U.S. and Portugal will go a long way toward determining their World Cup fates when they meet Sunday in the heat and humidity of the Amazon.

For the U.S., it's win and go on. For Portugal, it's win or go home.

And a tie? Well, then it gets complicated.

It’s not a bad game. Has potential. Needs to tweak a few rules to get a little more scoring. Deciding a World Cup Final in a shootout makes it a bullshit sport. Period. End of argument.

So as not to just complain without suggesting how to fix it, here goes my tweaks if I was FIFA king:

1) Make the goal slightly larger, like one meter wider and half a meter taller.

2) Relax the offsides rule, or perhaps do away with it altogether.

3) Tighten the rule on when the goalie can use his hands. Perhaps only in the goal crease (immediate goal box). Or only on saves, not on crosses.

4) Put in some stall ball prevention rules. Like when your team crosses the midline, you can’t go back over (like the halfcourt rule in basketball.

5) Disallow passes back to your own goalie.

6) And for Heaven’s sake, penalize any player who flops. Any player on the ground for more than 5 seconds MUST come out of the game for the rest of the half.

How the USA will stop Cristiano Ronaldo
How can you stop a player who can do it all? How do you deal with someone who can beat you with a leaping header, or a blistering shot, or a well-placed free-kick, or a speedy run and an expert finish? How do you defend a player who, when on his game, commands “best player in the world” status as if he was born for it?

organised team defending, combined with effective and sustained possession and a few Hail Marys

Portugal has been weakened. But given the dismal performance of highly rated European teams so far, team USA stands a chance of making it for the first time ever to the coveted Round Of 16.

They just have to avoid being sent home.

Word. Enough of this 'skip, skip, skip, kick!' nonsense. The way ESPN wets their pants over this 'sport' is nauseating.

I find soccer extremely boring and not unlike watching grass grow.

That said, the “media” seems to be pushing this world cup crap down our throat to force us to join the one world community.

It’s despicable...and it’s not American!

The embarrassing shocker of this year’s World Cup is traditional football powerhouse England will not be in the Round Of 16.

And 2010 World Champion Spain is not in it at all. And Germany is struggling.

With winter setting in South America, all we keep hearing are excuses.
