I usually pay $67 for a 3x100 roll of landscape fabric. I’ll have to check into that!

Holy cow, I hope everyone’s ok? Did you get it on video so you can sue?

we were growing 'something else' because he had seen 'grow lights' in the room next to the greenhouse.

I was thinking of all my Aunts who used to grow African Violets on little multi tiered black metal or brass colored plant stands with grow lights back in the 50's and 60's. It's weird we've come to this..

The other day someone came over, and jokingly said, when they saw my grow light in the corner, "I won't even ask what kind of marijuana plants you're growing over there."

I guess grow lights are going to be vilified the same way firearms are these days.

I hate to say it but I think I am calling it quits with the veg garden this year. A couple of days ago something took a buzz saw to my pepper plants that I had grown from seeds. The stems were completely striped of their leaves. I couldn’t find a culprit, whoever it was ate 2 and left 4 untouched. Next my zucchini plant died probably from that insect that bores into the stems that someone mentioned earlier. My lettuce, which I had way too much planted, became infested with little green worms. The final straw was an invasion of at least a hundred brown beetles with cream colored dots on their miserable little backs. I had thought that since we had a pretty cold winter in north Texas that the bugs wouldn’t be so bad but I thought wrong

It sounds like you have grounds for litigation. Personally, I’d find out who that “neighbor” is and..........

Open and shut...lawyers won't touch it because the neighbor doesn't have enough money to make it worth their while. Unbelievable.

See post #146. Everyone OK? Well...they didn’t kill us our cats. :-)

However, my wife is diabetic, and the stress finished off her pancreas, so now she is on insulin. Apparently, people in Red Hampshire don’t think diabetes is serious...one female neighbor laughed in my face when I told her I was growing vegetables to meet my wife’s nutritional protocol.

You may be right. "Funny" part was that we had been using 'grow lights' (Home Depot standard workshop fixture...some set-up) for five years, and no one said a thing. We believe this was retaliation for complaining about noise.

By the way...was it you that someone mentioned was ‘growing by the signs’? EVERYTHING is going great guns, so far. We’ll see.

I finished the deck today. It was hot out there. And humid.

This is just a fair warning to gardeners that there MAY be people out there that have an ax to grind or that may want to look like a champion of the people by doing things like this.

There are some dreadful people out there.

There are also a lot of people who have no understanding of what gardening involves. I'm told schools no longer do the 'seed in a cup' lesson, so people can go through school and have no idea how to grow a seed. I know a number of people who find my growing from seeds heroic, and who chuckle at the way I buy marked-down, bedraggled plants that I know I can bring back from near-croaking.

LOL!!! I take MUCH abuse from people who laugh at how I will baby a tomato plant that is essentially a stem with a leaf sticking up about half way up. A couple of years ago, I had a Lemon Drop plant in an Earth Box that was being prepped for ‘last rites’. My wife was asking why I wouldn’t pull the plant, as space in an Earth Box is real premium. It had a very tiny leaf sticking up from the stem stump, BUT it was a deep rich green, indicating to be that it was getting food. It wound up producing loads of beautiful yellow cherries...one of the last to be pulled at season’s end. Never say die.

It was me, and for Central TX, it's time to start planting seeds for Fall. I looked at the calendar, and thought, it's too hot for this. Actually, we haven't broken a hundred yet, so I shouldn't complain.

I was just out on the eight foot ladder checking the top of my cattle panel, and I have baby cucuzzi..I can’t believe it. I didn’t think I had any. I’ve only seen male flowers. I hope they grow as fast as Tromboncino..which btw, I have some seeds soaking right now to plant more.

You can’t litigate against the SWAT? What about your rights? That is just wrong.

Woo hoo - baby C’s!!! That is SO exciting! Now I can’t wait until I spot some on my one plant ... hopefully, it will happen. I have two Trombetta squash that look pretty good so far - fingers crossed they’ll get big enough to harvest.

I will definitely have to make arrangements for next year with more climbing space, etc. The T’s are going everywhere & grabbing everything!

Your deck looks wonderful. I need to re-do mine. Now that mosquitoes are in full force, and the weather is getting hotter, I think it will wait until fall..that could mean autumn or when I literally fall through a rotten board.

I am somewhat embarrassed to reveal the depth of my cucuzza craziness, but I just went outside with a flashlight, and my one baby C is now a preteen..It might be a teenager by the morning. I spotted another one that also appears to have grown since I spotted it today. At that point, I decided I should not be up on an eight foot ladder at one in the morning.
