Even when separated by thousands of miles, one deployed U.S. soldier managed to keep the tradition of a weekly pizza night with her husband alive.
The soldiers husband, Reddit user Robswampthing, posted photographic evidence of his wifes love on the social media site this week.
My wife is deployed right now, and we always used to get pizza on Wednesday nights, he wrote. I sent her a message telling her how much I missed doing that with her, then Papa Johns showed up.
The message from his wife above the hot and cheesy Papa Johns pizza was sweet and simple.
I love you. I miss you. And I will be home soon, it read.
The Reddit user, who did not reply to ABC News requests for comment, went on to explain that his wife had been deployed for a few months and would be back home towards the end of 2014.
Heres to eating this by myself :/, wrote Robswampthing, noting that he is also an active duty soldier.
We both absolutely love it, granted this is the longest weve been separated [sic], he wrote.
‘Hey Vern, what’s these dead minnows doing on my pizza?...Ernest P. Whorl-—aka the late Jim Varney.
..........that’s amore.
Good woman.
I had a girlfriend that would send me flowers at $35.00 dollars a pop, which was insane to me, to me flowers are useless, worse than lighting a cigarette with $35.00, so I sincerely tried to explain to her that sending me pizza was much more meaningful, but I could never make her see the reality of that, so all that money was just wasted.
If you love a man, deliver some pizza to him, or BBQ, or something that really has meaning, like an order of Thai for two, so that he has leftovers for the next day.
Aren’t women supposed to be romantics, do we have to explain everything to them?
Guy next door was named Vern, and he had room mates,
one night I heard “Hey Vern,ya want some taters”.?
I hope he remembered to tell her that having pizza on wednesday nights wasn’t the”Only Thing”he missed?????
That really nice of the deployed wife to do that. But what is missing is whether the husband ate that whole big pizza pie all by himself. I suppose that’s pretty cynical to even bring up but that’s what I get for reading the headlines of the Enquirer while I’m standing in the grocery line.
It wasn’t”WASTED”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow..
Explain it to ansel.
Talk about having been jaded by that psychopath in the White House...I thought this was gonna be a story about two “husbands”.
Never understood the flowers thing. Watching something beautiful shrivel & die and then get to throw it away is somehow a gift?
You must be a man. I love it when my husband gives me flowers.
Nope
Okay, my mistake. I guess you are more practical than I am, although I am pretty dang practical.
I would not want him to spend a ridiculous amount of money on it, e.g., a dozen red roses for St. Valentine’s Day, which seems to run around $50. But he usually gets me a nice little nosegay for my birthday, and that is very nice and all that I want.
Mmmm. And that's a good pizza right there......
