The California Department of Public Health said in a statement released Friday that more than 800 cases of pertussis have been reported over the past two weeks. As of June 10, there have been 3,458 cases of whooping cough more than in all of 2013.
KNX 1070′s Tom Reopelle reports health officials say more than 85 percent of those who have contracted pertussis all had preventative shots.

Brought to you by the illegal aliens Obama invited in.
Just part of the price of letting the third world come here at will . . .
“more than 85 percent of those who have contracted pertussis all had preventative shots.”
Then what good are the shots?
The shots are no good - I had the shots as a child and then contracted pertussis about 10 years ago. It is a horrible disease and lasted for about 6 months before just going away.
Maybe it will hit the “compromised” immune systems of the states Gaystapo members particularly hard.
Yes, I am being vindictive. Righteously so.
I cannot say what I really think should be done with the people in government who are calling shots today.
An oldie (also your thread), but a goodie from 2010:
Whooping Cough Declared An Epidemic In Calif
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2540308/posts
I contracted pertussis in SoCal perhaps two months ago. Not fun!
Stay well!
Message here...........stay out of California. Of course that message goes for a lot of the US.
Thanks! You, too. Doing well (knock on wood).
Just illegals bringing in the diseases Americans refuse to do
Not only that there are many parents here who refuse to get their kids vaccinations. Whooping cough can kill.
Immunization, at least with regards to Pertusis, is only “good” for about 5 years. However, having and (of course) recovering from Pertusis gives a natural immunity of about 30 years.
I won’t be surprised when malaria migrates into California from our southern neighbors.
(I would like to mention that just a few days ago, Sheriff Joe Arpaio warned of epidemics coming to the US because of the flood of illegal alien children.)
In infants younger than 1 year of age who get pertussis, about half are hospitalized. The younger the infant, the more likely treatment in the hospital will be needed. Of those infants who are hospitalized with pertussis about:
1 in 4 (23%) get pneumonia (lung infection)
1 or 2 in 100 (1.6%) will have convulsions (violent, uncontrolled shaking)
Two thirds (67%) will have apnea (slowed or stopped breathing)
1 in 300 (0.4%) will have encephalopathy (disease of the brain)
1 or 2 in 100 (1.6%) will die.
The most common complications in another study of adults with pertussis were:
Weight loss (33%)
Loss of bladder control (28%)
Passing out (6%)
Rib fractures from severe coughing (4%)
The phrase, “Made in China” comes to mind.
