You would achieve enough momentum to carry you past the point of zero gravity (the center), so that you would "fall upward" for a ways. Then you would lose the momentum and fall back, with slightly less energy until you passed the center going the other way, then you would oscillate back and forth before eventually coming to a stop at the equilibrium point -- the center.

I asked this same question to a physics instructor when I was going to college.

That poses another interesting question.

When you finally came to a stop at the center of the Earth pendulumically, (or artificially somehow, if you have somewhere to be that night), what would it feel like?

Would you simply be weightless?

I've heard this answer before, also referencing the Chinaman's point of view which was seeing somebody falling UP out of a hole.

I know! I had hoped that some of my students had a good enough understanding of acceleration to come up with that anwer... It was disappointing and humbling (I wasn’t as good a Physics teacher as I thought I was) when nobody came up with the right answer!
