Centipedes are really nasty creatures.

We had them about 8"-9" long at one firebase out in the mountains of South Vietnam. Two Marines were medevaced after being bitten, one on the side of the face and the other on his, um, ...., well, private parts.

If we found one while digging a bunker, etc, after chopping it with and E-tool, we'd place the pieces on a stump, pile excess powder bags from the mortar rounds on it and light them off. Then we'd all dance around cheering.

We REALLY hated centipedes!

Yep, you learned not to lean up against sandbags at night. Knew a guy did that and got one down his pants and nailed in the butt several times. Said it felt like a hot nail each time. They shot him full of something and he was still sick as heck

We have big purple suckers here in Hawaii, and you do not lean against lava rock walls at night for the usual reasons.
