The "hate." here is a direct result of the deliberate falsification of images of the Old South by the American Left, since about 1950. Earlier, Hollywood pictured the Old South as the chivalric cultured entity that it actually was. But since then, the images have been deliberately altered, to demonize the region that has been most consistent in retaining the values of the Founding Fathers.

For a very different view of the old South than that of the school official being quoted in the article, consider what Booker T. Washington, the great Negro educator, had to say on the subject, which he knew first hand, in 1895: Booker T. Washington Address.

The Washington approach appeals to good feelings between the races. This Long Island school approach is to echo the hate rant of late 20th Century agitators, who exploit every opportunity to divide & alienate.

The implication being what? That if they weren't "heroic" they would have engaged in an acceptable, natural desire to attack the other students? While what the school did to the kids bringing the flag is outrageous, the idea that African Americans are Pavlov dogs who blow up in rage over anything that reminds them of slavery is extremely insulting.

Message to those student: If you had done this in central VA nobody would have noticed. I have battle flag flying most of the time at my house and nobody even comments. It is just normal. Bottom line to these gents: Move South about 300 miles.
