I have noticed to same thing.
I have two TOP priorities when it comes to hiring someone:
1. will they actually show up.
2. can I trust them to not steal from me.
those 2 criteria alone eliminate 90% of everyone I consider.
After I have hired them I have 1 more eliminator... will they actually work
That one eliminates nearly everyone else.
forget wanting someone competent, or who even speaks English! It’s nearly impossible to meet the above most basic criteria.
For us, it has come down to being able to eliminate 95% of the problem candidates by focusing our attention on ones who grew up outside the United States.
It sounds like FreeRepublic needs a job board.
