There's a guy (Richard Lee) on the local (Seattle) public access channel who's been claiming that for years. Whenever Love is in town, he stalks her and tries to provoke a confrontation.

Cobain’s family has said that they would believe an OD before they would believe a gun suicide. apparently he had a great respect for guns. There was certainly reason to suspect murder for hire but Kurt did do this photo shoot for a magazine shortly before his death.
Maybe he was just trying to appear edgy and X-treme.
