No need to prepare. Rumors of USA demise are grossly exaggerated.
Obama, the smartest person ever, is only five years into his term as Ruler of the Free World, so we have at least 20 years of absolute security to look forward to, with him making all those pesky decisions so we don't have to. The Constitution is so 18th century. Now that we have finally left that old scrap of parchment behind, there is nothing to restrain our Leader or to prevent him from doing as he knows he must for our own good.

Don’t think insurance plays a part in SHTF.
Theoretically, by this list I am well ahead of 99% on this. Truth is, I could be dead in a week after SHTF depending on how it plays out where I live.
Best the average person can do is the solid basic stuff and hope that the fickle finger of fate points at someone else when it happens.
Oh, and be well armed. If you’re are going to go down, make sure you have plenty of company.
Why do I need a first aid kit for economic collapse? Congress already puts bandaids on our economy to no avail.
I’ve got the ObamaCare hotline number. If some sort of economic collapse happens and I need medical care I’m sure they’ll come to my house immediately. Obama said they’d take care of me.

I agree with you there, but if say you relocate and it’s just a temporary and a more regional event (Think Huricane) and you get sick in you BOL, you may need such information. Of course you could always claim to be an illegal and get treatment free! ;-)
I think 95% of Americans are already living in their *normality bias* stage. Completely oblivious.

Nice post. The “normalcy bias” works in our favor, for it means that merchants will still respect the US Dollar (although they may charge more). Depending on the event, people will have 3 days (maybe less) to spend those dollars, before society (i.e., merchants) figure out that the dollar is WORTHLESS.
If you know that’s coming, you can STOCK UP, but you have to have the cash first (i.e., no ATMs) and be REALLY FAST about it.
No one is prepared for a total financial collapse if it happens. Nobody.
Rural America comes close, but lets pray it does not come to the point where we are tested on this.

Not even rural America. Having the land does not equate to being able to plant and harvest it. It takes fuel and electricity—resources that if gone, render the farmer in a tough situation as well. Having animals will help, but they still need to be fed and watered. Watering would be critical. No power, no water. Yes, the famer could last longer, perhaps, but the effects would quickly catch up.
We still have windmills. We have large electric generators. We have fuel storage. Grain storage. And yes, it would still be very tough. My ancestors survived here with much much less for a long time. They came to this county in 1889. Weathered a similar drought from 1895-1898. Yes, we have seen this weather pattern before.
The AGW crowd are nothing but con-artists.
I do not look for need for total self sufficiency to be necessary, but we could be if we had to.
There is wild game here, my brother has chickens, we normally have cattle but sold them 3 years ago. Probably will rebuy some this year. Drought is receding but not over yet.

Ha, you are so right! Most head no clue that we have a massive debt, our rights are eroding with every executive order, and this government couldn’t care less about the people or the Constitution.
