CyberAnt but I’m still leaning toward General McInerney’s explanation that the plane is in Pakistan or Iran. Ditto. And after landing in Pakistan, they ripped out the black box and, using another plane, dumped it in a deep and remote part of the Indian Ocean to throw off searchers.

That’s a very interesting theory. And .. it might reflect why the Malaysian govt said, “the plane went down HERE!”
Hmmmm ..?? Were they assuming nobody would look there, or not search there ..?? In fact, as soon as they said that, my first reaction was: What happened ..?? Did Malayasia get the ransome note and decided not to pay it ..?? I was sort of joking, of course .. but maybe there’s a little bit of truth to my reaction.
But .. it’s been stated on the news (very early in the search) that the pings could be a group of whales.
