Lest we forget. Please pass this on...

“Among President Clinton’s first acts upon taking office in 1993 was to disarm U.S. soldiers on military bases. In March 1993, the Army imposed regulations forbidding military personnel from carrying their personal firearms and making it almost impossible for commanders to issue firearms to soldiers in the U.S. for personal protection. For the most part, only military police regularly carry firearms on base, and their presence is stretched thin by high demand for MPs in war zones.”

A stupid move on Clinton's part. But then I've got to ask. Why didn't George Bush rescind the order as soon as he took office?

Because if Clinton is at fault (and he is), then Bush and Obama are at fault also.

How well I remember the rules of engagement that lead to the attack on the U.S.S Cole....

NO Loaded weapons allowed on board...

Under Billy Clintoon.

Thanks!

How many shootings on military bases happened before that? I would like to know Clintoons reason for doing that. If there were no shootings beforehand, then Clinton deliberately put our troops in harms way. Also why the hell didn’t Bush rescind that order?

some of the regular office personal (702X0) on Air Force bases in Thailand during Nam were not issued guns or helmets until the snipers came through the perimeter..

They ran across the compound to the latrine hoping a sniper wouldn’t shoot them..

but for the combat soldiers to not have a gun is treason..

I was in from '89 to '94, and those were the rules when I was in, not just starting in '93.
