There was more proof against Richard Jewell. Philadelphia was happy to have known dirtbags like Riley Cooper and Michael Vick on the team.

That’s why I think his departure from the Eagles has nothing to do with the off-the-field rumors and everything to do with his immaturity and piss-poor sense of discipline. You don’t win with the NFL version of Allen Iverson on your roster.

The kid’s got talent though. One of my favorite plays was when he ran back a punt return against the Giants. I think the Beagles scored like 20 points in the last 3 minutes of the game.

I was at that game and made the mistake of hosting some of my friends who happen to be Eagles fans - they still remind me of it and I still hate him and that day.

What is the off-field rumor?

He was questioned by the police a couple of times about gang-related crimes out in California. Nothing of substance ever game of it, but if you do a Google search on “DeSean Jackson, Crips” you might find a few interesting links.

Can’t be worse - I’m still reeling from the Eagle’s 4th-and-26 play as a Packers fan.

His talent is speed. Otherwise, there’s not much to his game.

I think Chip Kelly saw him as a rapidly depreciating asset who caused more trouble than he was worth. His old teammates certainly had no problem with watching him walk away. That speaks volumes about his impact on the locker room.

With the Eagles adding Sproles, Maclin and a high draft pick (1st or 2nd round WR) to the offense, scoring points won’t be a problem. As long as Foles performs.

He’s a fine receiver, and he’s only going to get better.

He seems like a nice enough kid, too. I couldn’t care less about something he blurted out when he had too much to drink one night. The fact that people are still bringing it up almost a year later is proof positive that we’re living in the age of insanity.

Thanks.

I think the media is going to put pressure on the Redskins over their name this year and it will start by talking down the people on the team and anything else they can come up with. Yes, Snyder is a jerk and has no business making football decisions but now they will pile on with any other rumor or smear they can come up with.

Connections to the crips. On Twitter, he openly supported a gang member in prison for killing a kid in a drive-by. The killer was a rapper on Jackson's record label.

He was also fond of flashing gang signs on the field.

If I'm running the team and investing tens of millions of dollar in these kids, that pic alone is reason enough for me to let him walk.

Well, since the Bullets changed their names to the Wizards, there hasn’t been any gun crimes in the DC area, so I think DeSean will do fine.

A defunctional player signing with a defunctional team.
Perfect match.

Where does the left-wing part come from?

How is it risky? This isn't trading up for RG3 - the Skins didn't give away multiple high draft picks for Jackson. All they risk is Dan Snyder's money, and I'd guess he has plenty more where that came from. Jackson is one of the fastest players in the league and a play-maker - if he plays like it, you've acquired a great offensive weapon for nothing. If he's the slightest bit of trouble you throw him and his non-guaranteed contract out the door.

Anyway, all I've heard so far is some vague insinuations about gangs, along with a categorical denial by Jackson that he's ever been a gang member. Any GM refraining from signing Jackson because of whispers is a dolt - I wish the 49ers had signed him, and I'm glad they at least tried.
