The problem that I have with these regs is that it does the opposite. A black woman who doesn’t want to use relaxers or nasty weaves is left with few options here. This is impractical for women in combat or the field.

She can’t have multiple braids, so cornrows are out. She can’t shave the sides short and leave a bit on the top (a high and tight) because she has to leave it with some length.

I get that there need to be regs, but they just took away most of the healthy options.

Oh, my mistake. She can have cornrows. But they must be about 1/4 inch across and she can’t have more than 1/8 of a inch of scalp showing between the braids. So it’s out for women with thinner hair. (And have fun maintaining a hundred braids in the field.)

Seriously, what she *can* she do that doesn’t involve chemical treatment or weave glue? Mini-afro?

She can shave the sides and have a high and tight. A female soldier received the MOH for her uncle the other day and she had one.
