The truck driver was 100% in control of HIS vehicle and HIS actions;he did not have to do anything but sit back a safe distance until she or any other vehicle was out of his way.He was NOT driving an emergency vehicle. Was there also not a big truck ahead of her ,so passing her car would have made little difference in travel time. I haVE BEEN PASSED BY JERKS WHO IMMEDIATELY INSERTED THEIR VEHICLE INTO THE SPACE BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE PRECEDING ONE SUCH THAT THERE IS SUDDENLY no SAFE BRAKING DISTANCE. aND MANY TIMES BEEN PASSED BY SOME IDIOT ONLY TO PULL UP NEXT TO SAID IDIOT AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT !

I have no sympathy for those complaining of left-lane traffic nor agree with any need for such laws.

That has been my opinion for many years and I’ve seen no good reason to change.Nor do I care what opinion the speedsters have of me.My driving has varied from 10,000 to 35,000 miles per year and every wreck I’ve seen has had at least one driver’s high speed in excess of posted limits a major ,if not the determining ,factor in causing actual contact.Even when the slower vehicle did something stupid the contact could have been avoided IF the other were moving more reasonably.I have seen a number of fatal crashes in a short section of highway 50 and every one involved at least one speeding vehicle.Typically people drive 60 in this particular 50mph signed area that has a half-dozen intersections .

Speed traps,NO!
Speed enforcement in proven dangerous stretches of roads,YES!

There is a need for such laws. Passing on the right is dangerous to the point of laws requiring vehicles to move right for overtaking vehicles in quite a few states. People expect passing on the left, not the right. The passing lane is on the left. Move over. The only thing at stake is ego, and hopefully only smugly witnessing accidents to which one was a contributing factor for refusing to let other vehicles pass in a safe manner.
