Looks to me that the tremendous resources of engineering, manufacturing, facilities and money will finally pay off for Merc, especially with the virtual total new car.
It has taken boatloads of money to develop the new “power unit” the FIA has forced upon these teams. Renault nor anybody else can come close to what the Merc can pour in to the power development.
And sadly, the stupid FIA cannot see their ways which would have been easy is they would have just looked at the Indy Car series in the US. Trying to make racing cheaper always results in more expensive and boring.
This product has got to be sold to paying customers as well as television networks around the world. The appeal of racing is dependent on several factors, speed, color, smells, scenery, and noise. The most important of these is speed and noise. Take away one of these two and you have the formula for failure.
The FIA will have but a short time to fix the situation because the fan base will dwindle slowly until it is a big money pit nobody will be willing to pour capital into.
I am so discouraged I will not be attending the US GP in Texas this year. A race that is only two hundred miles away.

100%! and that's a damn shame being it's so close, but i understand completely...
if the FIA absolutely HAD to show how french they could be, they should have simply implemented the fuel restriction and left the engine alone and let the manufacturers figure it out
talk about killing the goose...

Ricciardo given 10-place Bahrain grid penalty
Daniel Ricciardo has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for next weekends 2014 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix following an unsafe release from his third pit stop in Sunday's race in Malaysia. The Australian had pitted from fourth on track, but was released from his pit box with the left front wheel of his RB10 improperly secured. Under 2014's revised regulations, any driver who is unsafely released not only incurs a 10-second stop and go penalty if they continue in the race, but also receives an automatic 10-place grid drop for the subsequent event. Red Bull were also reprimanded by the stewards in Malaysia after a member of team personnel was found to have not worn head protection during a pit stop.

it is bizarre to hear the tires squeal and complain again... I guess this means I'm never going to get to hear a real F1 NA engine in my whole lifetime now. So Sad :(

I will be in Barcelona when the F1 race is there. I was considering going to the race, as I’ve always wanted to see one in person. However, after I heard these new engines... I gotta be honest, I have second thoughts. I mean, when I first heard it in an on board view, I thought something was wrong with the engine.
