Best pizza still comes from a mom & pop place. Growing up in Brooklyn, there was one around the corner from us. I still used to go there when I'd visit my parents back when they were living (sadly, the place is also now gone). You could buy it by the slice or by the pie. My mouth is drooling just remembering it.
I remember as a kid getting mushroom pizza on Fridays during Lent.

Most pizza shops and Italian retaurants in Brooklyn now have Mexicans doing all the cooking in the kitchen!
This I learned from my daughter when she waitressed at a very high end restaurant up near Central Park.

Her place in Bartlesville, OK... makes some real good pizza's....
Back in the day....my dad an I ate pizza at a place in Anaheim, CA...on St. College Blvd. called Smiling Sam's...dang that was good pizza!!!
