I sort of agree with you except to be real BBQ, it has to be pork.

I like it all as long as the meat is tender, has been cooked over a real fire and has your choice of sauces. I guess the meat has to be high quality too.

While people have differing preferences on cooked bacon…

They can and do, but they are very wrong:) I want to hear the oink and feel the wiggle!

I used to love Dobb’s in Dothan, Alabama. I haven’t eaten there in over 30 years tho and I recently read where some guy said it wasn’t any good so I would not endorse it now.

I agree 100% vinegary Carolina BBQ with coleslaw is the best hands down. You know good eating!

Jackie Hite’s Bar-B-Que
Where: Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; 803-532-3354
What to order: Jackie Hite’s pork sandwich (pictured above)
is a testament to South Carolina’s barbecue heritage,
with coarse chunks of brined and smoked pork, bathed in a
classic sauce of mustard and vinegar.

I prefer Shealy's just around the corner from Jackie Hite's.

Pork/brisket combo at Arthur Bryants’ in Kansas City.

Prefer Oklahoma Joes but Arthur Bryants is right up there. LC's and Jack Stack are also good.

As ‘Lonely Planet’ used to say ‘good places go bad, bad places go out of business.’

IIRC Dothan Alabama is the hometown of investor Jim Rogers.

Darn! None of these is in Massachusetts!! I’m shocked.

Not too far away: KC's Rib Shack, Manchester, NH. Not only ribs, but brisket, pulled pork and smoked sausage, cooked low and slow. The cole slaw, baked beans and collard greens are pretty good, too.

Real Texas brisket and original NC pulled pork are hard to beat, but these guys do a pretty good job.

I don’t recall him but I haven’t lived in Dothan in many years. It was the home of star Alabama running back and later cowboy movie star, Johnny Mack Brown.

Alabama QB, Steadman Shealy who led Bama to a national title around 1979 attended our church. It seems like there were a couple of other famous people from Dothan but I can’t remember them now.

We ate at 12 Bones in Asheville last summer and it wasn’t any good. The meat and sides tasted like last week’s leftovers. The meal was inedible.

While doing some closet organizing over the weekend I tried on my wet suit. I am now on a very strict diet. I really, really hate you for posting this.
