whats the difference between an autopsy and a necroscopy?

i thought necroscopy was when you cut up some really old body like a mummy.
or a dead cow from 9,000 years ago.

In ye olden days, the Explorers Club would have this on the menu. They served ancient frozen mammoth steaks on occasion.

Why this is not done today has got me buffaloed.
