Is it true that anyone with an IQ greater than 100 is prohibited from becoming a cop?

I’m not sure of the actual cutoff, but I remember reading about a police department in CT a few years ago that gave IQ tests to job applicants—and then turned down those who scored too high.

The theory was that police work was dull and repetitive and that officers with too high an IQ were likely to quit too soon after training.

In smaller places, yes. Small towns hate being used as training grounds for larger city police forces that pay better. Smarter guys do that. As soon as they are fully accredited officers in regular employment their resumés are going out.

Well, it does seem that prerequisites for employment in law enforcement today are:

-Roids

-A sense of superiority

-A keen lack of common sense

-The marked inability to holster suspicion leading to looking at everyone as a perp

-Hatred of dogs

Along with the directive from their masters that LEO’ing has a quota and they had better meet it or else.

You asked: Is it true that anyone with an IQ greater than 100 is prohibited from becoming a cop?

A US man has been rejected in his bid to become a police officer for scoring too high on an intelligence test.

Robert Jordan, a 49-year-old college graduate, took an exam to join the New London police, in Connecticut, in 1996 and scored 33 points, the equivalent of an IQ of 125.
