You might want to educate yourself about the term 'state'. Here, try the

"State commonly refers to either the present condition of a system or entity, or to a
governed entity (such as a country) or sub-entity (such as an autonomous territory of a country)."
Are you one of those people who think that the term 'state' only applies to U.S. states? If so, consider yourself corrected.
