I thought the books serve the purpose: yes, the prophecies are out there, but it was Voldermort’s choice that made Harry the one with his obsession toward the Potters.

That was what Dumbledore said at one point. But I never bought into that, why would Voldie obsessing on Harry mean Harry is the one that fulfills the prophecy? Why couldn’t Voldie obsessing on Harry put Neville in position to fulfill it? I like the story even better if Voldie kills Harry, thinks that means he won, THEN Neville kills him. Or maybe Harry and Neville cast complimentary spells that take him out. She opened so many interesting story possibilities when she tells us the prophecy could apply just as much to Neville and then never bothered to go down any of them, thus making that tidbit add nothing to the story.
