I wouldn’t spray 3% in my nostril. Maybe dilute it 50% with distilled water first. Inhaling 3% by mouth is fine. I do it with a nebulizer.
My wife started to come down with the flu a month ago and H2O2 brought it to an immediate halt. I haven’t had a cold or the flu in decades thanks to hydrogen peroxide.
I've heard that every single year.
bingo - everytime I get the shot I also get the symptoms, sometimes they are worse than others. I was laid up for 2 weeks once immediately after a shot and I blamed it on a different virus/cold infection taking root because my system was already taxed by the flu shot. One key point what most people call the flu (24-48 hour stomach virus) is not the FLU. Influenza kills. I still debate myself on getting the shot because I go down every time for at least a day or two.
“I do this when a sore throat begins indicating infection has occurred.”
The ears are connected to our throat. That’s why H2O2 in the ears seems to work at stopping colds and the flu. Not being a doc, I figure the virus starts a nasal drip which causes the sore throat. The passage from the ear to the sinus way must be the part that’s sensitive to infection.
The tremendous fear is that the “ordinary” H1N1 may be moving in the direction of the “extraordinary” H1N1 that hit Ukraine. That flu was so savage that many doctors believed it had to be something else, because flu “doesn’t do that”.
At autopsy, some of the lungs of victims looked burned and black, a result of the “cytokine storm” effect, a severe overreaction of the immune system.
I am suspicious of the Ukraine outbreak, because it might be blamed on arsenic contamination. Arsenic dulls the immune response to novel pathogens, then when the immune system does respond, it tends to overreact.
And Ukraine has long had coal and coke production, its particular coal having a high level of arsenic, contaminating both their soil and groundwater.
Importantly, in Los Angles metro, there are several plants that have been seen to be releasing large amounts of arsenic.
LOL.
“You two want to be on allopurinol”
I personally have no idea how well cherry juice concentrate works, but allopurinol is not without consequences. My next door neighbor started taking allopurinol and developed the itchy rash on her thighs that is basically a precursor to a subsequent reaction that is frequently fatal. She happened to mention to me she was taking Benadryl for this mysterious rash that had suddenly developed, and I happened to be familiar with the situation, and told her she HAD to immediately stop taking this stuff and never take it again.
I’m 45. I seem to remember, as a kid, that about once a year I or someone in my family got the flu. Sore throat, aches, fever, fatigue, bleh. But it was common. We didn’t have any widespread campaign to get a flu vaccine, nor any panicky headlines in the media about a severe flu outbreak. I’m not sure what’s changed - why flu season is all of a sudden this major news item and cause for concern. I wonder, Are the strains of flu now more dangerous than 30+ years ago? Is it killing more people now than it used to?
If a person was like me -- had to drag myself on two hands and one foot to the bathroom with the other foot suspended in the air to avoid even brushing anything due to the extreme pain -- one would be willing to risk a side effect to be nearly guaranteed a lifetime free from gout attacks.
Unfortunately, there are severe cases which do not respond to a uricosuric or any treatment -- most certainly including cherry extract.
If we had REAL news, they would actually research and answer your very logical questions. But that might reduce the hype that brings on more viewers.
Will leeches help, if I have too much bile? Maybe I should go to the Barber. ;-)
Hmmm. Bile comes from the liver. Should I have the barber attach the leeches to my liver?
;-)
I thought it was LOL also.
Read it, been a SciAm subscriber since 1964. The very young and the elderly are more likely to have diminished or underdeveloped immune system but even so, they should be getting the vaccines. There is the possibility of a mild to severe alergic reaction but that comes with any type of shot or vaccination. The elderly with normal immune function are in many cases more likely to survive a flu epidemic without ever getting it due to prior or long time exposure.
There is also a lot of “flu-like” viral infections out there that come and go each year and are recorded by less than knowledgable doctors as the flu.
People like to talk to me about their pain and I have to respond “If you don’t have Gout, you don’t know pain”.
