Preparing to deploy to combat terrorism, Special Operations Marines and sailors again are undergoing certification training in urban warfare in the New Orleans area, the military has confirmed. The training began Tuesday and continues through Jan. 28, but the nature of the exercises was not released publicly.
Similar training occurred in August, months after U.S. Special Operations forces underwent training in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing. That training wasn't announced in advance and involved military helicopters appearing in the night over the French Quarter and Central Business District areas.
Portions of the training that began this week “will be conducted in remote locations in and around New Orleans,” said Capt. Barry Morris, a spokesman for Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command. “The forces will work in cooperation with local authorities and residents to provide an opportunity for realistic training to all stakeholders and minimizing disruption to the local communities."
He said the Marines and sailors are training “to ensure the highest degree of readiness” for deploying for what the military calls the global war on terrorism. “There should be no military aircraft or helicopters involved in this training, nor is any simulated gunfire expected,” Morris said.

New Orleans would seem like a realistic urban battleground training area.
Members of the Tea Party, Christians,legimate gun owners, etal. are the “terrorists” that this training is to be utilized. it may not happen today. It may not happen tomorrow. It may not be next week, or next year, but the seeds are being planted.
Important work there...
We all know Terrorists usually operate in groups or mobs, in the urban areas openly in the streets in a conspicuous manner, vulnerable to field combat by obamas domestic army. <sarc

I share your sentiments.
It’s called TRUEX (Training in an Urbran Environment Exercise). We did our truex in Miami back in the day. Most of the training we did was to prepare for possible NEO/CEOs (Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations). Basically, training to evacuate American citizens out of hell holes overseas. I imagine that they still doing that sort of training today.
Routine training. Nothing to see here. Marines use the Big Easy (and other major cities) all the time during their pre-deployment workups for the last 20+ years.
Live near a military base and this happens often.
When I was eight or so, I remember Marines sliding out of a helicopter into our backyard and setting up a perimeter all around theneighborhood.
Happened about once a month...but THAT day I scored some serious C-rat handouts! Mmmmmm...
I figured that’s what MOUT (Military Operations Urban Terrian) courses were all about. Simulated villiage or city street for that purpose. Then again, I’m a zoomie, so there’s something I’m probably not seeing here.

Funny, I just read that Jindal has SOLD part of LA to the Russians.
NOLA would be as good a place to simulate a foreign, 3rd World hellhole as exists in the USA.
