I’ve noticed this with copperheads that I’ve killed.
Even seen bodies with severed and separated heads strike. How did they do that?
I don’t touch them until 24 hours after any movement has stopped, and then only after testing the head or body part with a long-handled tool.
So I’m fighting this hydra and I cut off the head. It just got worse from there.
