Wow. Amazing to think that he was too old to serve in WWI, and was in his 50s and 60s during WWII.

Actually, if he really was born in 1884, he would have been 30 years old when WWI broke out, so he would not have been too old to serve. My grandfather who was born in 1884 had to register for the draft (I have his draft card) but wasn't called in.

I doubt this man was really born in 1884--most claims like this seem to come from places where record keeping was inadequate or non-existent. It's not likely he was born in a hospital.
