As most news junkies know by now, Phil Robertson, one of the lead actors in Duck Dynasty reality show, has been suspended (see fired) for his plainspoken remarks about but not favorable to gay people. This immediately made me think about former sex symbol of the 60s, Brigette Bardot, now 73. In 2008, Ms. Bardot was put on trial for 'insulting muslims remarks in one of her books. Bardot said, "The Muslim Community was destroying our country and imposing its acts on everyone".
This would make the fifth time she has faced the charge of "inciting racial hatred" over her controversial remarks about Islam and it's followers. Prosecutors asked that the Paris court hand Bardot a two month suspended prison sentence and fine her $23760. for these and similar remarks. Since retiring from the film industry in the 1970s, Brigette has become a prominent animal rights activist, and has courted controversy by denouncing heavy Muslim immigration and their tendancy to never assimilate with France, the host country. She has been fined four tmes for inciting racial hatred since 1997, at first 1.500 euros and most recently 5000. Prosecutor Anne de Fontette told the court she was seeking a tougher sentence than usual, adding "I'm a little tired of prosecuting Mrs. Bardot!".
So this was going on in France just in 2008. Now, only five years later, it's happening here to our well known and well monied celebrities. It's just a matter of time before Global Warming dissenters or Gun Ban dissenters are going to be hounded and harassed just like this. This is in the near future unless they suffer some strong negative consequence, like a huge drop off of business, a drop off so dramatic, it cannot be ignored or otherwise explained. How sad that many people have pledged their spiritual allegiance not to God, not even to the United States, but to the never ending examination and contemplation of their sexuality, where any hint of disapproval is not to be tolerated and must be irradicated. Meanwhile, the caliphate continues with its long range plans.
Islam is not a race ffs!
Great comparison Lee. Thanks for posting.
Unfortunately its not just famous people who are being persecuted for their normal beliefs. It’s unkown people like photographers, bakers and even teachers.
A few hours ago there was a FR thread about some gym coach who was fired by his lesbian boos. Why? I’m sure you know why.
Browse down a little while in the Forum. You’ll find it. Browse down a lot. A whole lot, and you’ll find hundreds if not thousands of other stories about blatant hatred and discrimination from evil individuals against normal people.
To me this dust up with Phil Robertson looks to be almost an exact repeat of the 2007 dust up with Don Imas.
The Imas dust up in 2007 was part of Hillary’s dirty tricks campaign for president and I believe that is what this is.
There will be talk of the ongoing republicans “War on Gays”.
We already have the republicans “War on Women”.
Amnesty will be the republicans “War on Hispanics”.
The 8 years of Obama will be the republicans ongoing “War on Blacks”.
Brigitte Bardot is 79, having been born in 1934. In her younger days, she was active on behalf of the Rosenbergs, who were executed in 1953 for atomic espionage. Seems she is following the French tradition of starting out on the left but ending up on the right.
ttiuwp
But ONLY ones from her heyday back in the 60s, please!
She’s gone decidedly “Helen Thomas” over the last couple decades ...
I much admire Bridgett for her anti-Muslim stance and all she has done for animals. Quite a lady!
Now if he was a liberal the ACLU would be filing a lawsuit to protect his civil rights. If he were in a union, they would be going on strike. The liberals would be picketing, and performing acts of civil disobedience and organizing boycotts of the offending company.
But since he is a conservative and wealthy, he'll just walk away and no one will raise an eyebrow.
We never fight for our principles. We never go to the mat for our fellow conservatives.
No way this show will go off the air it’s to much of a cash cow for the network. The suspension is simply a cover for the network so it appears to be taking a progressive stance. In a couple of weeks all will be forgotten and some gay apologetic story will written into the show.
??? did the author mean "eradicated"
“She was active on behalf of the Rosenbergs, who were executed in 1953 for atomic espionage.” That I DID NOT KNOW!!! My take from that is this; Since most of Brigette’s stardom was experienced in France (an historically Vichy country) she escaped many of the consequences that Rosenberg association would have brought her in the U.S. I recall hearing people still talking about both Rosenbergs during my childhood, and it was always with a hushed trepidation.
Free speech isn’t always popular with either the left or the right.
Yes, I did mean to use eradicated. Thanks. I think sometimes I make words up from the phonetic base and just go for it. Of course, when all else fails, there is a new invention to use called a dictionary.
Muslim is a race?????
None of us look like we did when we were 20.
That is not my description or interpretation at all. That is how the French prosecutors saw it, that’s the way they chose to present their case against Bardot. Hoping to shut her up, the prosecutors used the word RACISM, because the more correct accusation would be that she is guilty of Xenophobia, a fear of what is foreign, not as catchy a word as is RACISM. I was quoting from the public records.
She took a beautiful picture back then. Fantasique!
