This guy? He sure doesn’t write ‘em like he used to:

In the great pantheon of contractual obligation records, there is the noisy (Lou Reed’s Metal Machine Music), the brassy (Neil Young’s This Note’s For You) and the phony (Monty Python’s Contractual Obligation Record).
And then there is Van Morrison’s Bang Records Sessions.
In order to fulfill his obligation to his early solo label Bang Records,Van Morrison sat down in 1967 or so and cranked out 31 songs on the spot, on topics ranging from ringworm to wanting a danish, to hating his record label and a guy named George. Make sure you get past the first few tunes - it takes him a few to get cooking...

The title track is one of my fav VM tunes.
Wow. I wish I knew someone who played with Van.
When I hear Morrison, my heart and soul soars.
To be honest I am so moved by his music and lyrics, I don’t really care what his political leanings are.
Besides, I find it refreshing when someone sticks to their beliefs and doesn’t take guff from anyone.
The way he weaves melodies together is glorious.
I have met many people who say they don’t “get” Morrison. I am assuming these people don’t have souls.
Sounds like he’s about 16!
I hear you!
The sax player’s name is John Payne and he is in Boston, MA. Van spent quite a bit of time in Cambridge MA and John appeared with him on the tonight show and SNL as well as playing on those two albums.
I attended a class with john on music production, and my little sister studied flute with him. He had a little music school in Brookline MA, and is an EXTREMELY nice person.
I play the flute as well.
Sounds like your sis had a great teacher and you have a great friend.
Of course...her favorite thing to play on the flute is ....”MOONDANCE”!
As much as I like Rod Stewart (early Rod, Faces and first solo Albums), Mr. Stewart ruined that song by converting it to a love song, and not a hymn.
Now that was funny!
