Sorry, didn't see that in the article. Body carriers will be detected through an X-ray, although one wouldn't expect a local traveller to have a totally packed set of innards like international body carrier.

In my locality we had a guy smuggle a loaded syringe into the county jail. The cap on the needle became dislodged prior to him being able to recover it. Much pain ensued, along with extensive damage to his rectum.
