Thank you.

My Aunt said they had to bury the dead very quickly.

Yes,you have to not think too hard about how long he was in the hospital for all the world to fall apart while he was there. There's definitely bedpan issues to consider as well.

But I think the first episode sets the mood better than any other zombie film, expect perhaps Vincent Price's Last Man on Earth, which was a model for the later zombie movies. Most zombie movies have zombies as anonymous monsters, but in the Walking Dead (and LMOE), it doesn't gloss over that the dead have families and people that cared about them. The two scenes where Morgan is trying to kill his wife but can't , and when Rick kills the Bicycle zombie, are very strong scenes that don't take away the former humanity of the zombies.

I’m not sure what to make of Carl. He’s going to grow up to be like the character from Platoon played by Tom Berenger.

That could be true, but somehow I remember "three month coma" for some reason. Anyhow, even ONE month with no one to change the dressing, IV bags, antibiotics, etc., would not have a guy coming to and able to walk out on his own, riding a bike, etc. I know Morgan looked after him for some time until he was fully healed and started out looking for Lori and Carl. It's weird that such a disease could spread world-wide so quickly that nowhere is free from it. Maybe some Caribbean islands??? When the CDC doc tells Rick "everyone has the virus" and don't need to get bitten to reanimate, there is never any explanation for how or why it started in the first place.

There's going to be a season five, I read, so do you think the cause may eventually be revealed? Maybe some government bio-warfare plan gone amok???

When do you think the Governor will make his appearance?

Add me, please. Thank you.

I’m thinking about watching the last episode to refresh my memory.

I’m finding that serial TV shows are best watched in less than one week intervals. I rediscovered Heroes, two episodes per day, five days a week. It was a remarkable show...

Season 1 on Netflix is how I got hooked, too.

LOL

Haven’t missed an episode since.

I think that the zombie apocalypse came towards the very end of his hospital stay, so he was probably without medical attention for just a few days. Perhaps 3 days? Even if he had an IV, he would start getting dehydrated. That’s just a guess - I don’t think they got that specific on the timing.

I’m thinking around episode 4-6. I have no spoiler info. on this, but if they want to make him part of the mid-season finale, then that’s usually around episode 8.

Although the scenes are graphic and gross - and some nights I couldn't get them out of my head

Hubby and I also watch The Talking Dead, which is a discussion group talking about that night's episode. It usually has someone from the episode as a guest, and then a couple of other people, some associated with the show and, also, just fans.

Anyway, it is very lighthearted and funny; and, this helps me "come down" from the gruesomeness of the episode. I know what you mean about it staying in your head; so, I find a little lighter fare afterward helps.

In one of the flashbacks, it shows Shane visiting Rick and bringing him flowers. Then Rick wakes up from his coma, thinks Shane is in the bathroom and the flowers are all dried out with petals and leaves dropped on the nightstand. By this time, however, Shane has already been back to the small group of survivors, including Lori and Carl, and he and Lori are "carrying on" secretly in the woods. They are trying to make their way to the CDC in Atlanta, right? How long was Rick recuperating with Morgan and his son? I get that it was probably only a few days or a week, because when Rick sets out for downtown Atlanta, the Shane group is still at the campsite waiting for T-Dog, Glenn, Andrea and Merle to bring back supplies when they run into Rick riding into town on horseback and getting stuck in the tank.

Whatever started the outbreak, it was global, fast spreading and deadly. The entire government shut down and there was no electrical grid operating or phone service. There are many areas where "normal" has to be suspended for the show to work and many question don't get answered.

It’s getting better. I guess you get used to it and, you’re right, seeing something else afterward helps. Do you watch “Revolution” or “Continuum”?

I like talking Dead as well. There was also a Talking Bad show after Breaking bad that was pretty good show.

Falling Skies is a show that’s gotten better over time.

Yes, and that Polaroid he took of her has me convinced something is going to happen.

LOL

You know, we (husband and I) are wondering if Carl did it......stirring up the walkers so Rick would see he needed his gun back.

He REALLY wanted that gun....and it’s still kind of unclear what lengths Carl will go to, IMO.
