I just got back from working on my land. That felt good! It’s been almost a month since I was able to get out there, every time I tried something came up. Even today I had to fight for it.

My plastic sheeting keeps blowing loose. I have both staples and heavy rocks holding it down. With the rocks it at least doesn’t blow as far, but still, it’s loose more often than it’s down. The grass and weeds are matted, but not dead like they were supposed to be. I think I’ll go back to woven landscape fabric, it’s the only thing I’ve tried that hasn’t blown away or disintegrated so far. It’s expensive, though, so my garden will have to grow more slowly than I wanted.

Last Saturday I had piles and piles of green tomatoes on my table, now it’s piles and piles of multicolor tomatoes. They’re slowly ripening, one by one. 2 of the bigger ones are ripe enough to use today, and mom’s been nibbling at the ripe grape tomatoes.

At some point I need to tear my dead runner beans off their tipi and dig up the potato bed, but my back hurts for now.

Sounds like a fairly decent crop.
