A large number of us are distant cousins. I think the existence of an indigenous non-Indian American nationality is too much discounted in the current “nation of immigrants” story that is prevalent today. The last of my ancestors got here in George Washington's first term and many Americans ancestors all got here before the Revolution- those are no immigrants.

I’ve identified more than 95% of the “first-comers” in my family tree, and the vast majority of them were in the 1600s. Only a handful came in the 1700s and another handful in the first half of the 1800s. None after 1840 that I’ve been able to find.
Oh, and one indigenous line that probably goes back at least a thousand years. :)

Nope, they aren’t, and I consider myself a “Native American”. I have no ties with any other Country, neither did my ancestors. They stayed here, fought in the Revolutionary War, the Battle of New Orleans, the Civil War.... and a couple others.
