Why AMC's 'Breaking Bad' is the new novel
Los Angeles Times ^ | September 19, 2013 | Mary McNamara

Critic's Notebook: With an ending firmly foretold, the powerful 'Breaking Bad' ushers in a novel twist to TV as more series tinker with form, function.

Going into Sunday's Emmy telecast, all eyes are on "Breaking Bad." It's picked up a slew of acting awards during its five-season run and is this year's odds-on favorite for drama series; as the show moves toward its Sept. 29 finale, its ratings have almost tripled since last year.

Today there is word that the last two eps will be 15 minutes longer than usual. Adjust your recorders to compensate.

I think Jesse dies while in the custody of the bad guys. Walt comes back and blows them all away in a stupendous act of revenge (ala High Plains Drifter?), then maybe, yeah, he smokes the poison cig but maybe not, he’s pretty into surviving.

I’ll have to start watching this. These types of series shows beat the crap out of JUNK shows on network TV. We got rid of our cable 3 months ago and have been very satisfied with an air antenna for local news and Roku3 for great programming. Our favorites so far are Justified, Copper, & Brotherhood - all on Amazon instant prime.

You might check out Damages with Glenn Close and Rose Byrne.

I'm sure the whole thing is on Netflix by now.

They’ll be sitting in a diner listening to a jukebox and the screen will go black.

I think walt is certainly going to go after Todd’s uncle and his gang for killing hank and taking his money

I cant believe they left him alive AND with $11 million...

I can imagine how walt get’s 11 million to skyler and everyone

And how Lydia fits in at this point is ????

I haven’t seen that one (I’ve only seen City Hunter) — the premise of Breaking Bad [IIUC]] doesn’t appeal to me at all. A previous poster suggested to me “Road One” and “Legend of the Patriots” which are apparently Korean War dramas; that alone sounds better to me than Breaking Bad.

There is no “poison cigarette.”

There was poison which Jesse hid in a cigarette.

Did Walt have a ricin cigarette hidden in the outlet in his home?

No, he had the vial full of ricin hidden in the wall.

The cigarette was just a way to hide the vial of poison, not a method for the poison to be delivered.

Jesse could not carry it openly in his pocket or something, in case he got searched. If he got the chance, he was to retrieve the vial from the cigarette and poison Gus’ food or drink.

Walt goads the Neos into a kill zone and goes Rambo on them with that M60. Rescues Jessie from servitude and greases Todd as he is about to violate Lydia. They grab Marie, Skyler, and the kids on the way to a private airfield where Lydia’s Citation takes them to the Czeck republic where they all live happily.
