TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

One prominent women's health care provider is shutting the doors to three southeast Texas clinics because of what they call "persistent attacks on women's health."

The Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast Chapter, which serves Houston, southeast Texas, and Louisiana, announced two weeks ago that because of state budget cuts to women's health care services, Planned Parenthood chapters in Lufkin, Huntsville, and Bryan will have to close.

After nearly 40 years of serving East Texans, their last day to see patients is Thursday, Aug. 1.

The Lufkin clinic offers general health care, family planning, and pregnancy and STD services, among others. Their funding was greatly affected after Governor Perry banned Planned Parenthood from the statewide Women's Health Program after the 2011 legislative session

In addition, Planned Parenthood says that the Bryan clinic must close because of the new guidelines for abortion clinics the Texas Legislature recently passed. It is the only clinic of the three that offered abortion services.

Fantastic news. I hope they can close the El Paso clinic, but it looks as though PP has one located a mile outside of the TX border and 10 miles outside of the TX/MEX crossing into Juarez in New Mexico.

Sounds like they are closing their PP office "chapter" in Bryan because without the clinic, they don't need to spend their money there. They are a profit making BUSINESS and their BUSINESS is abortion (the death industry).

If "chapter" and "clinic" are the same thing, then the publicist is dogpiling "reasons". If the clinic doesn't meet guidelines, and they are unwilling to bring it up to code, then the state budget has no effect on their decision to close in Bryan.
