I mean the last book...
That may well be a surprise.
"What is dead may never die"
Horrible Fantasy ping. (fixed it)
sorry to late
Still, I was surprised at how shocked I was by what happened even though I knew it was coming. I guess it is seeing it played out in front of you on the screen Sort of like how I felt when Jamie lost his hand; knew it was coming, still shocked.
Who thinks they will do Joffrey's wedding as the last episode of Season 3; or, do you think they will start with that in Season 4?
So do I, A Dance With Dragons.
Melisandre was there.
Pretty sure it’s next week. It’s definitely season finale material.
I’ve heard folks talking about this series; please, what’s it all about and why should I watch?
Valar Morghulis.
Think a sword and socery themed show with an extremely interesting plot, terrific sets and locations and stunningly good acting and actors.
Warning, it is HBO so there is sex aplenty, gore and graphic battle scenes.
It is easily one of the top ten things I have ever seen on TV.
Cheers,

I don't care. I know he dies so that is good enough for me. Can't wait for that episode.
Wondered what loyal fans would think when that particular scene from the books was put to video.....it’s brutal enough in print.
The entire saga is "A Song of Ice and Fire" and the first book was called "A Game of Thrones". The show has kept that initial title for promotional reasons. The Ice is because Winter is Coming, as it much every few years or so. (Yes, the seasons are that long.) But this time around, things are different. North of the Wall (a 700-foot high ice structure which stretches across the Continent), the White Walkers are moving. Basically, it'll be a zombie apocalypse is something isn't done.
Unfortunately, there's a lot of family squabbling and back stabbing and politics going on in all the Kingdoms of Westeros, which were united under a single king at Kings Landing.
The Fire will likely come from Dragons, who died out long ago, but just like the White Walkers, they're ready to make a return. At some point. It's taking a while.
In the meantime, characters are marching on each other, fighting one another, killing one another, and plot hooks are set up that you hope he'll eventually get back to.
Yes, it's going on too long, but I'm still enjoying it. I just hope that he can finish this before teh series catches up to him. I'd heard that there were supposed to be 7 books, and I've heard that there's more planned now. Frankly, he should finish this saga and then just tell "historical" tales about the past.
Or be like Discworld and just keep putting out more books, but ones that standalone.
I find it interesting as whole regardless of the actual story. A very modern story placed in a mythical antediluvian world with scenes of graphic violence and lurid sex. Stuff that you actually buy cable for.
#GameOfThrones is analogous to an inverse murder mystery. Instead of knowing who the hero is but needing to figure out who’s the villain, the viewer/reader knows who the villains are but has to try to figure out who’s the hero.
I’m in the middle of the last book.....and it has so many characters I’m lost.
That was another thing.. I kept up with wheel of time better, too many houses charaters to remember lol.
My Son and I read book 3 and watched the episode last night. The first thing my Son said at the end was that they filmed it perfectly. I agree. The ending credits without music was poignant.
I can’t wait to see the next season since book 4 was a mess. I know that it will be tweaked for television but I am excited to see the story advance.
!!!!!SPOILER WARNING!!!!
Who will be the one to bring Catlyn Stark back to life? Will it be the red lady or someone else?
Uh, oh - lots of violence and graphic sex; guess I’ll have to get the DVDs ;-)
Anyway, thanks. I’m not a big “sword and sorcery” guy, but it does sound intriguing.
And it’s certainly true that you can put over any sort of idea for a series if the acting is first-rate and they spend a bit on sets.
You read the books, too, haven’t you?
