The father of Trayvon Martin, the teenager shot dead by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in a case that sparked nationwide protests over racial profiling and police inaction, said Saturday the family is bracing for a "rough road" as Zimmerman's trial nears.
"We're going to have to sit through all the negativity," Tracy Martin said at an emotional prayer service in a Miami church nine days before Zimmerman's trial opens in Sanford, Florida. Martin was referring to defense attorney Mark O'Mara's attempts to cast his son as an aggressor whose actions on the night of Feb. 26, 2012, prompted Zimmerman to fire in self-defense.

[Martin family attorney] Crump accused the defense of resorting to "a desperate attempt to try to play on people's prejudices" by releasing texts and photographs taken from Martin's cellphone that O'Mara said showed him as a fan of weapons, fighting and marijuana.
"It's bad enough they had to lose their child. It's tragic they had to assassinate his character," Crump said.
O'Mara, though, has argued that such evidence shows that Martin might have been on drugs, paranoid and prone to violence the night Zimmerman encountered him in his father's Sanford gated complex. The teenager, who was black, was on his way back to his father's home after going to a nearby store to buy candy and was unarmed. Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, spotted Martin, began following him, and then pulled his 9-millimeter.
Zimmerman said he shot Martin after the teen attacked him. The defense says Zimmerman, who is white and Latino, jumped to conclusions about Martin because of his race.

The comments on the article at the link are a hoot to read. Very few defending Tray Tray. Most folks have it right, Martin was destined to become a serious criminal had he not been stopped.
Funny, you never see headlines in the main-stream media such as "George Zimmerman Family Braced for 'Rough Road' as Trial Nears", do you.
To the MSM, Zimmerman and his family are virtual nameless, faceless ciphers in this case.....it's only the Martin family story that is of "human" interest.
The author of the above article is very skilled as a liberal propagandist, but to those who are adept at recognizing extreme bias will find it in this article. Analyzing the biased verbiage sentence by sentence from beginning to end is fascinating as well as revealing.
Virtually every other paragraph contains anti-Zimmerman cliches couched in both overt or carefully-concealed overtones.
But then, consider the source....the LA Slimes thrusting its leftist oar into our faces again.

So, they’re making statements of fact, huh? They seem to know all that actually happened before the trial.
No probem. He didn't have school the next day because he had been SUSPENDED from school!
Trayvon filmed the felony assault and beating of a homeless person by two of his homies.
Not only did the prosecution have this video in their possession, they kept it secret and still to this day have not pursued criminal prosecution.

As for hard roads ahead...it’s a terrible thing to lose a family member, no matter who they were or what actions they took in life. So in that respect, I’m not unsympathetic to the Martin family. My counterpoint to that is, consider what Zimmerman has gone through and will go through no matter what the outcome of the trial is.
The media tried and convicted him, giving a grudging reprieve only when evidence of doctored 911 calls and flat-out untrue statements about sustained injuries came to light. Spike Lee tried to paint a bullseye on Zimmerman’s back by posting his home address (and ended up endangering the lives of a completely unrelated couple), and so on. If convicted, Zimmerman will probably be a marked man in prison. If acquitted, he’ll probably have to relocate and continue to more or less live in hiding.
That all sounds like a pretty rough road, too.

His dad was out all night with his girlfriend. He didn't even know the address of his girlfriend's home, the one Trayvon was "staying at." He didn't call the police about Trayvon missing until the next day.
Maybe if they had p[aid more attention to this little reprobate before his death they wouldn’t be so saddened now.
