The light comes on. Of course the "other" side will want to remind this woman that with a gun in the house there is a 90% greater chance of an AD. A 90% greater chance of suicide. (Just using 90% since that seems to be what the asshats are using for everything these days.) Kind of like 90% of firearm sales are never recorded. 90% of all guns recovered in meh-he-ko came from the US(think fast and furious). Kudos to this lady for seeing the light.

Six months from now, when all of this becomes a dim memory, “Mom” will slowly return to her anti-gun feelings.

Obviously “dad” is not a shooter, or at the least, not well-versed in firearm handling: his finger is on the trigger of that shotgun!

Tell liberals that are waking up that even if they shudder at the prospect to have a gun in the home, even if they are still opposed to have a gun in their home, that at a minimum agree to never let anyone know there are no guns in their home, Why?

Because the ‘possibility’ of a gun, just the idea of a gun in a home is enough to deter criminals.

And importantly this is why we as a society never want the government to register our guns or lack of guns. The information shows weaknesses in non-gun homes.

I know lots of veterans and there is not one of them that I am afraid of with a gun. Which groups have shown that we should watch out for them? Islamist, at least the “radicalized” seem dangerous to me. What do the Arizona shooter, Columbine high school terrorists, Sandy hook, and many other murderous acts have in common? Democrat parents are a commonality.

“First, a confession: I’ve never owned a gun. I never wanted one in my home..........”

She sounds apologetic, I have absolutly no problem with that whatsoever, I could care less. If thats what someone chooses to do. Thats the difference, gun people dont care if you own a gun or not but Anti gun people want to stick their nose in my buisness and take mine away.

There’s a 1270% chance that most of those statistics are made up.

During all these gun control arguments, we always ran into those “I’m a gun owner, but [fill in the anti-gun argument] posers.

Not sure here, for these “scales fell from my eyes” articles have the same “but . . . “ feeling to them, only for our side. However they will always find a sale-able market, and if true, she is another welcome immigrant from The Dark Side.

Periodically I see these “The light dawned” (or in most cases a slight glimmer penetrated the stygian darkness of the anti-gun mind). Who cares? Some moron had a cosmic ray hit a brain cell and logic rather than emotion bubbled to the top for a femtosecond. It won't last.

To me people who aren't anti-gunners and who haven't been anti-gunners and in all likelihood won't ever be anti-gunners are far more worthy of being listened to. Screw this wimpy bed-wetting idiot and to hell with her thoughts. They aren't worth examining.

Nice article, and thanks for posting. The difference between a "shelter in place" with a firearm and without one is the difference between living in fear of an criminal and him living in fear of me. I prefer the latter.

It's a good thing the author didn't post this directly to FR, though. Nobody around here has any opinions on home defense weaponry. ;-)

Author’s bio: Paula Bolyard

Paula first learned about the power of online activism in 2004 when she helped organize a response to an Ohio newspaper’s week-long series associating homeschoolers with murderers and child molesters. An unapologetic Christian and Constitutional conservative and now “retired” from homeschooling, Paula lives in N.E. Ohio with her husband, younger son, three dogs, two parrots, and a ferret. Her elder son is a junior at Hillsdale College.

Then, too, 90% of high capacity pressure cookers are never registered ~ and who in this country knows if one of them is missing and in the hands of dangerous islamofascist terrorists or 90% of their running dog lackeys in the media.

This world is too dangerous for leftwingtards ~ they should be encouraged to 'check out' as soon as possible and leave the rest of us alone.

I realized at that moment that the police cannot protect me from the Dzhokhar Tsarnaevs of the world.

That is right. Not even with 3,000 cops within a half mile of your house.

I realized right then that if I were holed up in my house while a cold-blooded terrorist roamed my neighborhood, I wouldn’t want to be a sitting duck with only a deadbolt lock between me and an armed intruder. There are not enough police and they cannot come to my rescue quickly enough.

Once the bad guy, terrorist or otherwise, is in your house he's not likely to let you make a phone call. Feinstein is an idiot ... in the literal sense of the word.

To me having a gun in my house is like having a fire extinguisher and a smoke detector. Just for emergencies, not something I really think about much. Just another tool in the tool box.

Eventually, I realized that little boys will make guns out of just about anything — bananas, sticks, the dog’s paw, their fingers — nothing is safe from their imaginative minds.

Including pop-tarts that fail to be chewed or bitten into form of a mountain, but end up looking "like" a gun.

Got the kid in a jam. Had a crummy result. Kicked out of school. Teachers and principal afraid mother's milk will undoubtedly & inevitably lead to heroin abuse. Something must be done.

I know! Let's drug them into passivity, to keep them from acting like little boys. I should know...I raised two wild little indians. Fighting and making noise, always at odds with each other, throwing a ball towards the house, breaking a window even after I told 'em over and over "please don't do that. You'll break a window eventually". It's just not natural, i tell ya'...

I mean, me and my own "little brother" never acted like that when we were little. The neighborhood kids wouldn't bundle up in multiple layers of clothing in the middle of summer chasing each other around shooting Daisy bb guns at each other. Never happened. All 20 or so reported incidents of that behavior. Nope. No fire crackers and bottle rockets either. We DID NOT fashion a mortar tube out a pipe with mud plugging one end, and eventually, after a few rounds of ranging fire, score a hit on a neighborhood dog that had bitten several of us, with a couple requiring more than a few stitches to sew us back up. Nope. That's not the sort of thing normal little boys would experiment with. There were no mini-bikes and homemade go-carts using small 3 to 5 horsepower side-shaft Briggs & Stratton or Tecumseh engines either. No playing football in the street. Those left over, colorful remnants strewn here and there suggesting there may have been some serious water-balloon raids having taken place? Those little things must have blown in from the next town over...

Above all, we were all very quiet. Only played tea party with tiny cups and saucers. Nobody later went to Vietnam. Everybody who did came back alive.

Whatever, Ms. Bolyard. There’s more to “seeing the light” than just buying a gun. A good deal more. For far too many people in the next few weeks, getting a gun is going to be like getting a tattoo: a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling.

I just went from no guns in the house to a Springfield 9mm XD subcompact and a Ruger sr-22 for my wife and daughter. Me and my son will use the 9mm but the girls will train and shoot both as well.
It’s amazing the change I’ve had with gun ownership lately. Obama seems to be a great gun salesman along with these effing terrorists. I will not sit in my home without protection should there be a manhunt in our neighborhood.
