As long as this person has a great driving record it was the car not the driver. It looks like the pedal was mostly stuck. I just saw this 5 times.

The person had no time for for neutral on the first encounter. Too small of a stopping distance before hitting the house. He or she was totally shocked. Also in a state of real shock. The second time was to just try to park the car in the driveway but it kicked in to being stuck in the pedal mechanism again. Then notice the car only stopped hitting house thus able to use gear for reverse. Then notice how it was still in an high mode from stuck pedal now in reverse. Thus the tires peeling in a circle. That's my humble opinion.

Had this same thing happen to a buddy years and years ago with a Chevelle.
Engine motor mount broke, accelerator jammed wide open, couldn't use column shifter to go to neutral, hit brick building, took him a while to turn ignition off, was pretty shook up.

GM paid for all repairs, was a recall later for the problem they had been knowing about.
