Wild choices. That must have been some misspent youth. Never heard those groups before.
Jericho Jones is especially interesting (sorry, rock’n’roll on a flute standing on one leg don’t work for me), as it represents the period so well: singing and tunesmithing recalling the Association and even the Cowsills, while the instrumental work brings to mind Cream and Blind Faith. Maybe that’s why it didn’t go anywhere - it offended the fans of both sub-genres, who were never the same people.

Hehehehe! Yeah, my best friend's older brother worked at a record store and had an amazing record collection. My best friend and I would spend hours on end listening to his brother's record collection while shooting pool and playing air hockey in his basement.
Yup, I may have been young, but I knew the early '70s psychedelic, funk, and blues-rock scene backwards and forwards. I can still remember the artwork on just about every album cover. My memory may have faded over the years, but if you show me the album artwork, I can still name the band, almost instantly.
The Jericho Jones album was a plain, almost paper bag colored album with a simple drawing of a hand coming out of the rubble. It was the left hand and it had a crooked index finger. As I got older and learned about Communism, I subconsciously latched onto that drawing as representational of Leftist ideology...
Anyway, I later learned that Jericho Jones was an Israeli band that used to be called "The Churchill's." So, I don't think they were actually going for a Communist theme with that album cover.
...Just checked on YouTube. Amazingly enough, someone has actually posted a song from when Jericho was known as The Churchill's (Do a search for " הצ'רצ'ילים ")
Until tonight, I hadn't heard that song, but it certainly encompasses the era! Amazing what you can discover on YouTube.
